Hello,

What happens to you when you learn your partner will need a heart and lung transplant to survive? Box of Matches approached me with their single Two Kinds of Sadness which was to be released as a part of a larger EP. They wanted to create a narrative music video to help promote the release of their EP. The song Two Kinds of Sadness is about the band leader's experience waiting for their partner to get a heart and lung transplant. The music video tells the story of how he learned his partner would need the transplant, and the feeling of dread that infused his life in the months waiting for the call.

I worked with the director/writer of this film, Rem Valatka, to craft a look specific to their vision for the story. The look was developed in preproduction and turned into LUTs for use on set and to be burned into the dailies and DI. The motif of repetitive days is an important part of the film. I used the same camera angles for each day to convey conformity and intentionally broke from it when changes happened in the story. Handheld was used sparingly to emphasize unsteadiness. The film was shot on a RED Gemini and Zeiss Contax lenses and graded in Resolve. An ACES pipeline was used throughout production to maintain authorial intent throughout the imaging pipeline.

Made over the course of a year, A School of Trout follows a group of fourth graders in Burlington’s Old North End as they raise and release baby trout into a river while learning about the ecosystems surrounding us. The film provides a peek into how kids conceptualize growth and change in nature as the children themselves are approaching their own transition into middle school. Nicole Phungrasamee Fein's art is meticulously detailed. Every line and stroke is carefully thought out. I worked with her to create an online showcase of her work, giving the experience of being in a exhibition of her work online. Thin lines and strong grids make up her site, while copious white space reflects her artworks' personality.

With only a plot of trash to start, two farmers create the only healthy food option in a neighborhood. This short documentary explores the stories of two founders of the Florence Fang Community Farm in the Bayview district in San Francisco. Established in 2014, the farm is the only healthy food option in the neighborhood. Over the course of half a year, I created a short documentary about how this unique farm was founded and its impact in the community.
