Designing The Ascent
Short documentary about climbing culture
I co directed, edited, and was the cinematographer for this short documentary. Our small team of three people created this piece that explores climbing culture by talking about how climbing routes are designed. We used Formal interview setups overlayed on top of location footage of climbers working through routes. We shot this in a combination of indoor gyms and outdoor climbing spots.
It was 20 degrees during our filiming of the outdoor rock climbers. We had to wrap the camera in a down jacket to keep its operating temperature up.
